There are so many great sites of ancient times that are either hidden or forgotten in this world, some in jungles, some in farmers’ fields, or deserts. The rumors of these lost cities and discoveries have led to incredible finds that are open to the world now. It is a clear example of how people used to live, what their culture was, and their rituals.

Machu Picchu, Peru

Machu Picchu is a recognizable heritage site built mountainous high above the Urubamba River and lush. The place consists of incredible ruins that have been restored and maintained pretty well, giving the visitors a clear indication of what the city might have looked like in the 15th and 16th centuries. The writings on the walls and the drawings are just astonishing as the ancient painters and writers carved them at that time.

 Pyramids of Giza

It an eye-catching and one of the most iconic sites in the world. Outside Cairo, we can see a surreal sight that is rising from the barren desert. It was the tomb for the Pharaohs constructed between 2560 and 2540 BC.  These giant monuments are also one of the members of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Even though it was built in 2560 BC, it is still an astonishing view. The rich culture is seen in these pyramids.

Great wall of China

The Great Wall of China is one of the most excellent walls that stretches for almost 6000 kilometers as it snakes its way over the forest and mountains. This wall massively connects many battlements and watchtowers that were built back in the 7th century BC. It is also included in 7 Wonders of the world. Some of the sections in the wall are restored, and other sections need to be repaired. The visitors can witness the greatness of this wall only by visiting it.

England’s Stonehenge

This prehistoric monument is one such place in the United Kingdom that has the most visitors. It is undoubtedly one of the unique sites that attract a considerable number of visitors every year. Built between 3000-1500 BC, there are no records that can be tracked for their origin or purpose, leading to myths and speculations. Some suggest these were built for their religious or astronomical purposes.

Mesa Verde in the USA

Mesa Verde is one of the most preserved Indian ruins in North America. It is the home of most of the archeological sites found in the USA. The cliff dwellings tucked in the canyon walls are the most impressive sites, including the forest-covered Plateau containing a vast array of ruins. To explore the area in detail, climb ladders, take a guided tour to go through some of the cliff dwellings. It is a beautiful place to look out for, and it shows how well the cities were built in the 6th to 12th centuries.
